Prince Edward County
I discovered the Millennium Trail in Prince Edward County during an artist’s residency, Alchemy, in 2017. At one point the trail opened up to a swamp, and I was immediately taken with it; the sky was lavender in contrast to the sage of the algae and the first few leaves were starting to turn red. The Sunken Forrest triptych is painted from the on-site sketches, and because the 2020 covid lockdown restricted my access to new painting sites, I returned to the sketches and photos to reinterpret the swamp.
